Another way in Windows 10 is to right-click the Start Menu icon and choose Task Manager. If you don’t need the software at all, consider uninstalling it completely. Which ones you can turn off depends on what you use and need, as well as the design of the software. Or, right-click on the taskbar at the bottom of the desktop and choose Task Manager from the menu that appears. Windows Startup Programs Windows Task Manager will show you the list of programs that start automatically when you sign in. To launch it, simultaneously press Ctrl + Shift + Esc. It's not yet clear to me how easy it is to just add or remove a file in that folder without also referencing the internal database Windows uses for these locations. You can change startup programs in Task Manager. Since I wrote this, Windows 10 was released, which changes how the Start Menu folders work. Only do this if you really mean it, and you know for sure you want to run this program for all users on the computer.

The only problem here is it requires write access to the registry, which isn't always available.
